Our Story

Haley Matheny, MS, CCC-SLP is a licensed speech-language pathologist and owner of Total Communication, LLC. Haley graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2015. She continued her education at James Madison University and graduated in 2018 with a Master’s in Science in Speech Language Pathology. Haley worked in a variety of settings (rehabilitation, long-term care, school-based, early intervention and pediatric clinic) to finish her clinical certification in 2019.

Throughout graduate school, Haley was employed by New-Albany Floyd County Schools as a speech pathology assistant and continued honing her skills in the preschool, elementary and secondary education settings. Haley completed her clinical fellowship year (2018-2019) at Highland Hills Middle School, where she was later hired as the full-time speech language pathologist for Highland Hills Middle School and Floyd Central High School. She resigned from NAFCS in May 2021 in order to pursue her dream of owning her own practice.

Prior to becoming a speech language pathologist, Haley worked in marketing for Baptist Health – Floyd (formerly Floyd Memorial Hospital). She graduated in 2009 from Indiana University with a bachelors in public relations and business marketing. Haley is married to James Matheny, who is an Aircraft Maintenance Officer at the Kentucky Air National Guard and an Aircraft Maintenance Controller at UPS. They live in Georgetown and have two children, Tinsley (5 years old) and Sutton (1 ½ years old). They are both active members at Forward Church in New Albany and enjoy getting outside with their children as much as possible!
